Silatech Releases Ramadan Campaign to Provide Jobs

Doha, April 01 (QNA) - Silatech has released its Ramadan campaign "Your Giving is a means of Livelihood" to provide jobs and open the doors of livelihood for thousands of unemployed youths who lost their jobs and businesses due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the Middle East. The campaign " Your Giving is a Livelihood" aims to mobilize resources and donations to empower thousands of young people who suffer from poverty due to unemployment and link them to jobs and work opportunities. These donations will be directed to run Silatech programs to train, qualify and employ young people in a number of countries, including Somalia, Morocco, Pakistan and others. Chief Executive Officer of Silatech Hassan Ali Al Mulla said in a statement, "Millions of young people and their families suffer tragic conditions due to unemployment, especially in poor and conflict-ridden countries," noting that the campaign aims to achieve sustainability by linking young people to jobs and economic opportunities so that they would be able to join and compete in the labor market and secure a stable source of income for themselves to support their families and provide them with a decent life. He added, "We have witnessed thousands of stories of young people who have succeeded in changing their reality and living in dignity by benefiting from our programs in more than 18 countries in the Middle East and Africa, especially Yemen, Palestine, Syria, and others. We still have a lot of work to do, as the number of the unemployed is increasing by greater ratio compared to job opportunities. Al Mulla added that Silatech has succeeded so far, since its establishment, in cooperation with its partners, in providing more than two million jobs for youth in many countries, and it seeks to achieve its goal of empowering 5 million young men and women around the world, calling on community members, citizens and residents, to contribute to this campaign and to be partners in success in changing the lives of millions of young people for the better. According to the latest report of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the global unemployment rate is expected to reach 207 million people this year, and youth are the most affected, as the pandemic has caused huge economic losses, accompanied by the closure of many companies and layoffs to save expenses. Since its establishment in 2008, Silatech has been working on linking young people to economic empowerment opportunities, which includes vocational training and developing the skills required by employers to link them to jobs in the most demanded sectors, and encouraging financial institutions to grant young people the necessary funding to establish income-generating projects, especially young people who have been affected by conflicts and crises such as refugees, displaced and marginalized people.(QNA).
