Singapore Condemns Bomb Attack At Kampung Melayu Bus Terminal In East Jakarta

SINGAPORE, May 25 (Bernama) -- Singapore has strongly condemned the bomb attack at the Kampung Melayu Bus Terminal in East Jakarta, Wednesday which caused several deaths and injuries, including to members of the Indonesian National Police. “The Government of Singapore stands ready to work with Indonesia to bring those responsible for such reprehensible acts of terror to justice,” said its Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ spokesman in a statement Thursday. “We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured a swift recovery,” said the spokesman. Thus far, the ministry said there were no reports of Singaporeans directly affected or injured in the incident. The Singapore embassy was working with the Indonesian authorities to monitor the situation closely, it said. At least two people were killed and five civilians reported to be injured in the incident which saw two bomb blasts occurring within five minutes, suspected to be suicide bombings at about 9pm local time (10pm Singapore time), Wednesday. -- BERNAMA
