Slovakia's president to visit next week for talks with Moon

SEOUL, April 3 (Yonhap) -- Slovakia's President Andrej Kiska will visit South Korea next week for talks with President Moon Jae-in, Cheong Wa Dae announced Tuesday. The three-day visit starting Monday will make Kiska Slovakia's first president to visit the South since the two countries forged diplomatic relations in 1993, according to presidential spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom. In summit talks scheduled for next Tuesday, the two leaders are expected to review the progress in relations between the two countries and discuss ways to further expand substantial cooperation, Kim said. The two sides also plan to hold in-depth discussions on ways to enhance future-oriented cooperation in science and technology in an era of the fourth industrial revolution, Kim said. Slovakia is considered a key cooperation partner of South Korea and a foothold for South Korean firms. Some 90 Korean firms have presence in the country, including Kia Motors and Samsung Electronics.
