Smog from Indonesia hits Trang province

THAILAND, August 12 (TNA) - The southern province of Trang on the Andaman Sea is hit by thick smog on Sunday while people are urged to wear masks to cover their mouth and nose and avoid breathing smoke resulted from bush fire which has occurred for the fourth time since the beginning of this year, said Amnuay Chantarut, an officer of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Trang. Thick smog resulted from the new wave of bush fire on Indonesia’s Sumatra Island along with bush fire incidents in nearby Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung provinces spread to Trang at about 7.00 a.m. Sunday, causing thick smog and inconvenience to motorists, Amnuay said. Motorists were warned to drive carefully while fishermen were asked to leave ashore in the afternoon because accidents could occur during the influence of smog in early morning and evening, he said. The situation in Trang is expected to ease in the next few days, said Amnuay, adding that people are requested to wear masks when they stay outdoor. (TNA)
