Social media accounts run from Lebanon, Iran promoting sedition

Manama, Aug. 27 (BNA): The Director-General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science has stressed the significance for social peace of not interacting with social media accounts inciting sedition and extremism. Avoiding to repost posts by accounts run from Iran and Lebanon contributes to protecting society from extremist ideas, encouraging moderation and preserving the social fabric, he said. The directorate general said that a probe it had launched revealed that the accounts putting social peace at risk included an account for the dissolved Al Wefaq Society run from Lebanon and an account, “Al Wafa Movement”, run from Iran. The accounts have posted allegations by individuals involved in terrorist cases that sought to undermine the national efforts to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus and to necessary precautionary measures taken to ensure a safe commemoration of Ashoora in Bahrain.
