Soekarno - Hatta Airport Houses 133 Airplanes

Jakarta, July 6 (ANTARA) - The apron of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport can now accommodate 133 airplanes and it will be further expanded to have 174 parking stands by 2014, according to the Corporate Secretary of PT Angkasa Pura II, Trisno Heryadi. "The apron capacity of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is now 133 parking stands for the aeroplanes," he told ANTARA here on Thursday (July 5). Trisno said if the Soekarno-Hatta airport renovation project could be finished by 2014, the apron of the international airport could accommodate 174 aeroplanes. He noted that the first phase of the project, involving the renovation of Terminal 3, was finished in December 2011. "There will be 10 new parking stands at the international Terminal 3, so there will be 19 parking stands now for Boeing-737 aircraft," Trisno added. After the renovation in 2014, Soekarno-Hatta International Airports passenger capacity would also increase from the current 44 million per year to 62 million. The capacity of 62 million passengers per year comprises 18 million people at Terminal 1, 19 million at Terminal 2, and about 25 million at Terminal 3. Executive Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Tri Sunoko expressed optimism that by the third quarter of 2013, the airport would expand the capacity of its runway, apron, air flow management system and human resources. He said the state company was also developing six other airports Medan, Pekanbaru, Pangkal Pinang, Padang, Jambi and Pontianak in Indonesia. "But I dont know about the total investment value of the six projects yet," Tri Sunoko added.
