Southern Governor patronises holy Quran Award's closing ceremony

Manama, May 18 (BNA): Under the patronage of Southern Governor, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the ASEAN-Bahrain Council held the closing ceremony of the first session of its Holy Quran Award. The ceremony, organised in cooperation with the Southern Governorate, was held at the Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s Mosque in Awali. Upon arrival, the Southern Governor was welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ASEAN-Bahrain Council, Shaikh Duaij bin Isa Al Khalifa. HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali stressed the Southern Governorate’s keenness to cooperate with civil and social organisations to adopt initiatives and activities aimed at spreading Good and encouraging the spirit of competition among members of society. HH Shaikh Khalifa said that holding the ASEAN-Bahrain Council’s Holy Quran Award is part of the Southern Governorate’s interest in encouraging the memorisation of the holy Quran, adding that competitions stimulate youngsters to learn the holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah. The governor lauded the effective participation in the award, and the high-level performance of the contestants, commending the efforts exerted by the organisers to ensure the success of the event. The ASEAN-Bahrain board chairman delivered a statement in which he expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali for patronising the first edition of the award, noting that the event aims to strengthen relations between Bahrain and the ASEAN countries, as well as spread the sciences of the holy Quran among youth. Shaikh Duaij bin Isa Al Khalifa highlighted the importance of holding such events in the holy month of Ramadan in strengthening social ties between Bahrain and the ASEAN countries. The Southern Governor honoured the first three winners, who are from Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, respectively, as well as sponsors, jury and organisers. HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa was presented with a commemorative shied by the ASEAN-Bahrain Council board chairman in recognition of his support for the programmes and events held across the Southern Governorate.
