Southern Governor stresses support for SCYS' initiatives

Manama, May 9 (BNA): Southern Governor, HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, met here today with the member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, in the presence of the SCYS’ Assistant Secretary-General, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar. HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali said that the meeting is within the framework of cooperation between the Southern Governorate and the SCYS to develop sports and increase its gains and honourable achievements. The governor lauded the constant keenness of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Personal Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and SCYS Chairman, and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the SCYS, Bahrain Olympic Committee President and Bahrain Athletics Association President, to develop the youth and sports movement, which, he said, contributed to strengthening the kingdom’s standing at the international sports map through the multiple achievements attained by Bahrain at various sporting gatherings, stressing the Southern Governorate’s pride in the landmark achievements of Bahraini athletes. HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali praised the initiatives aimed at achieving complementarity in youth and sports programmes aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of Bahraini youth, expressing the Southern Governorate’s readiness to provide all kinds of support for the SCYS so as to be able to implement its strategies and initiatives. Shaikha Hayat expressed thanks and appreciation to the Southern Governor for his continuous support for the SCYS’ efforts and programme, affirming that the Southern Governorate is a major partner to the SCYS regarding the achievement of its mission aimed at providing the citizens with social, sports and physical programmes. The meeting reviewed the SCYS’ plans to enhance the youth and sports sector in the kingdom, and contribute to bringing about more achievements, It also discussed its plans to support the Southern Governorate’s youth and ensure the optimal use of the sports facilities. Director of Planning, Policies and Follow-up at the SCYS’ Secretariat-General, Rashid Abdullatif Al-Zayani, and Director of Social Programmes and Community Affairs at the Southern Governorate, Fatima Hassan Al-Ghatam, were present.
