Spanish company to publish book on Iran’s post-revolution cinema

TEHRAN,Oct.7(MNA) -- A Spanish publisher is scheduled to print a book on Iranian cinema after the Islamic revolution. An Iranian translator is currently making the usual preparations for publishing “The Iranian Cinema after the Revolution”, which is commissioned by the Iranian Cultural Attaché’s Office in Madrid, Najmeh Shobeiri told the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency on Saturday. The book has been compiled by the Spanish cinema expert Clara Janet Santos Martinez. Shobeiri said that this is the first Spanish book that puts the spotlight on Iranian cinema. No name was mentioned for the Spanish publishing company. “Mrs. Santos and I had begun to conduct some interviews and to prepare some other materials for this book last February,” Shobeiri said. “We had also commissioned some people to write articles for the book and translation began in April after we finished collecting the materials,” she added. The 212-page book gives a briefs description of the history of the Iranian cinema. Among the subjects discussed in the book are theme music and the role of women in the development of the Iranian cinema. The book, which will be published in the near future, also carries the article “Iranian Cinema Finding Its Own Place” written by Santos. It also contains three articles by Iranian critics and several other articles by Spanish authors. Santos was the secretary of an Iranian film festival held at Iran’s Cultural Attaché’s Office in Madrid in March 2012.
