Speaker affirms parliamentary support for bolstering cooperation with African countries

Manama, Aug. 23 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has affirmed the keenness of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to bolster its cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries, on the basis of cordial relations and mutual respect, to serve common interests. She highlighted the kingdom’s interest in broadening its cooperation with friendly African countries, and in strengthening its political and economic relations with them, as part of its efforts to enhance rapprochement among countries and peoples, as well as pave the way for achieving sustainable development, security, peace and stability. Speaker Fawzia Zainal made the statements while receiving here today the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi, Albert Shingiro, who is currently on a visit to the kingdom. She affirmed the support of the legislative branch for efforts to bolster cooperation with Burundi in all fields, noting that the memorandum of understanding on political consultations signed between the two friendly countries lay the foundations for a new phase of developed relations between them. Albert Shingiro expressed his thanks and appreciation to Speaker Fawzia Zainal for the constructive meeting, lauding the two countries’ friendship and cooperation relations, which, he said, are based on mutual respect and constructive cooperation. He underlined his country’s keenness to broaden its cooperation with the kingdom in various development fields, wishing Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
