Speaker commends Arab-League’s role

Manama, Mar.22 (BNA): Council of Representatives Speaker Fawziya bint Abdulla Zainal sent a cable of congratulations to Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit marking the anniversary of the establishment of the pan-Arab organization. She commended the strenuous efforts exerted by the Arab League in unifiying Arab stances, confronting challenges and regional and supporting joint Arab action in all fields. The Speaker paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa for his efforts to consolidate pan-Arab stances and unity, support vital Arab issues and interests towards achieving progress and prosperity. She commended HM the King’s initiative to establish the Arab Human Rights Court, lauding royal keenness to support pan-Arab coordination so as to confront all current challenges, maintain security and stability and achieve Arab people’s aspirations. She affirmed parliamentary support to the far-sighted royal vision, citing HM the King’s keynote speech at the first Arab – EU Summit, in which he stressed the need to foster the values of tolerance, pluralism and coexistence, strengthen the alliance to combat terrorism and bolster cooperation, on the basis of mutual respect and balanced international relations and strategic interests.
