Speaker highlights Bahraini women’s strides during HM King’s prosperous era

Manama, Nov. 30 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has stressed that the steady progress made by Bahraini women across various fields reveals the size of the tremendous efforts made and the qualitative initiatives launched to enrich the kingdom’s record of achievements and giving, reaching the goals emanating from the aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the supporter of comprehensive development in the kingdom. She pointed out that the comprehensive development march spearheaded by HM the King has given women a distinguished status, making them essential partners to men in the nation-building and development process, which, she said, has entitled Bahraini women to be an example of dedication and giving, as well as an honourable role model for serving their nation and society, at the local and global levels. In a statement marking the Bahraini Women’s Day 2020, themed “Bahraini Women in the Diplomatic Field”, the Speaker commended the efforts being made by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to translate the royal directives into the ground, and to integrate women-related plans and programmes in its strategies and action plans, which, she said, has contributed to making advanced and fruitful strides in the achievement-filled national march. The Speaker praised the great support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, to all women-related national efforts, initiatives and visions since the launch of HM the King’s Reform Project. HRH Princess Sabeeka has led Bahraini women to glory, playing a major role in transforming them, in a short period of time, from the empowerment phase to the advancement one, by activating their capabilities and enhancing their role in building the state of law and institutions, she said. She indicated that the course of action adopted by HRH Princess Sabeeka has led to preparing generations of women who contributed effectively to serving their society, and raising the national banners at all levels, including the diplomatic one. In this regard, she affirmed that Bahraini female diplomats have achieved remarkable success stories since the beginning of official diplomatic work nearly five decades ago. She lauded the effective role played by the Supreme Council for Women, which she described as a pioneering national and international monument, in implementing the ambitious national vision on achieving an equal partnership, building a sustainable competitive society and constantly striving to consolidate the values and principles of equal opportunities between men and women, which, she affirmed, has paved the way for Bahraini women to attain wide-ranging achievements that covered all sectors and fields. The Speaker underlined the Representatives Council’s keenness to place issues related to Bahraini women among its priorities, and to support the national plans aimed at achieving more advancement for them through passing laws and legislation that help them in performing their social and family duties while carrying on their role in contributing to the kingdom’s progress.
