Speaker highlights Bahrain's educational strides; pays tribute to staff

Manama, Oct. 4 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, said that Bahrain has presented a modern example of education, and proved itself as an advanced civilisational and scientific centre, in light of the comprehensive development march spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
In a statement marking the 2020 World Teachers' Day, observed on October 5 under the theme “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”, the speaker asserted that HM the King’s comprehensive development march has consolidated the institutional infrastructure of the educational and teaching process through investing in national competencies, application of the best educational curricula in the world, building modern state-of-the-art schools and using the latest technology and equipment, in line with the kingdom’s belief that education is the basis for renaissance and progress.
The speaker lauded the support provided by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to the education sector, valuing highly the tremendous efforts exerted by Team Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to put in place all the requirements for continuing the educational process during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
She paid tribute to the teaching, administrative and technical staff in the education sector, commending the tremendous efforts they are making and the influential role they are playing to teach youngsters and prepare them to contribute to contributing to nation building, progress and prosperity.
The speaker affirmed the Representatives Council’s support for the education sector in the kingdom, through updating and developing the relevant legislation and laws, as well as launching initiatives and submitting proposals that enrich the educational process, and develop the educational institutions’ infrastructure and digital equipment.
