Speaker holds virtual meeting with SCW Secretary General

Manama, Nov. 9 (BNA): Representatives Council Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal held today a virtual meeting with Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Hala Al Ansari. She emphasised the importance of boosting cooperation between the Representatives Council and SCW to support the advancement of Bahraini women and highlight their civilised status in various posts and responsibilities, in light of the comprehensive development march led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Representatives Council Speaker lauded the role of SCW, under the presidency of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Wife of HM the King, in enhancing participation of Bahraini women in the kingdom’s development process and in backing the distinguished national efforts to curtail the repercussions of COVID-19 pandemic. She also praised the council’s remarkable contribution to achieving family stability and social support. Zainal underscored keenness of the Representatives Council to adopt national plans and programmes of SCW through active partnership and cooperation. She stressed that supporting Bahraini women will remain a top priority for the Representatives Council in studying and discussing legislation. She also commended the role of the SCW Secretariat General in fostering cooperation with all institutions. The SCW Secretary General praised the royal directives supporting the advancement of Bahraini women, stressing the kingdom’s advanced status in women’s empowerment. She also pointed out keenness of SCW on promoting women’s participation as an equal partner in social building and a key contributor to development. Al Ansari underscored the role of the Representatives Council in enriching the legislative system related to Bahraini families and women. The meeting shed light on the legislative achievements to integrate women’s needs and the role of the legislative branch in following up on implementation of the national model in this regard.
