Speaker proposes exempting Bahrainis from visas to EU countries

Manama, May 1 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting it to take the necessary procedures to exempt Bahraini nationals from obtaining visas prior to visiting the European countries or to issue visas for them at European airports. The proposal aims to ensure easy procedures for Bahraini travelers to European countries, as it would save their time and effort. It also aims to ensure that European countries treat the citizens of Bahrain according to the principle of reciprocity through exempting them from the requirement of obtaining a prior visa. The explanatory memorandum of the proposal said that European countries require prior visas before visiting them, and that Bahraini citizens face tremendous difficulties while trying to obtain those visas. Meanwhile, European citizens find no difficulty in obtaining entry visas to Bahrain, and that many of them receive visas upon arrival at the kingdom’s airport or other exits, the memorandum added.
