Speaker receives US Chargé d'Affaires

Manama, Sept. 15 (BNA): Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, received US embassy Chargé D’Affaires Margaret Nardi. Speaker affirmed that signing the declaration to support peace comes as a continuation of the firm approach of the Kingdom in spreading the values of peace, openness and peaceful coexistence in light of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Fawzia Zainal explained that this historic step confirms Bahrain's keenness to make peace the strategic choice to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, noting the Kingdom's support for security, stability, growth and prosperity in the region. She stressed Bahrain's firm and permanent position in support of the Palestinian cause and the full and legitimate rights of Palestinians. Speaker highlighted that the declaration to support peace does not contradict Bahrain's commitment to the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy's decisions, according to a two-state solution. Zainal expressed her deep appreciation for the efforts of countries in supporting peace, praising the historical Bahraini-American relations, which extended to more than 120 years. She praised the outstanding cooperation and development witnessed in the relations in many fields, stressing the keenness of the Representatives' Council to strengthen Parliamentary coordination and support for joint projects that benefit the two friendly countries and peoples.
