Speaker receives workshop participants

Manama, Jan.29 (BNA): Council of Representatives Speaker Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal received the participants in a workshop themed “Digital Legislation support e-commerce and artificial intelligence and confronting cybercrime challenges”. Present were Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al-Khalifa, Information and Electronic Government Authority (iGA) Legal Advisor Dr. Munira Mubarak Al-Fadhel, Cybersecurity expert and analyst Aisha Ahmed bin Hajji and other officials. The Speaker stressed the importance of upgrading legislations and laws to support the transformation of the digital economy by adopting and employing artificial intelligence technologies in the productive and service sectors, as well as working to confront the challenges of cybercrime. She highlighted the royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to draw up a comprehensive national plan that ensures complete readiness to deal with the requirements of the digital economy and stave off challenges and threats. She underscored the importance of strengthening the information and communication technology infrastructure systems Bahrain to keep abreast of technological artificial intelligence strides stressing parliamentary support to efforts to development digital economy and beef up information security and combating cybercrimes.
