Speaker stresses importance of documenting Bahrain's heritage

Manama, Sept. 29 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has participated in the seminar held today by the Historical Documents Directorate at the Isa Cultural Centre, under the theme: “Scholar Abdulrahman Al-Zawawi who set the "Al Zubarah and Bahrain Calendar”.
The Speaker asserted that the Royal Order to issue the “Bahrain Calendar” in accordance with the Sharia, scientific and astronomical reflects His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s interest in documenting and preserving Bahrain’s deep-rooted heritage, through building on the kingdom’s unique historical status as a cultural, scientific and knowledge centre, as well as its pioneering regional and international role.
Zainal lauded the success of the cultural seminar and its accompanying exhibition in highlighting the scientific and civilisational renaissance witnessed by the Al-Khalifiya State in Al-Zubara, providing information about the life of prominent scholar, Abdulrahman Al-Zawawi, in addition to those of the most famous Al-Zubara scholars, as well as the presentation of copies of the original document of the manuscript of the Al-Zubara and Bahrain Calendar, noting that the seminar documents Bahrain’s rich history and pays tribute to the nation’s prominent scholars.
The speaker expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Deputy Board of Trustees Chairman of the Isa Cultural Centre, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, for inviting her to attend the event, stressing the importance of casting light on the scientific and civilisational renaissance during the establishment of the Al-Khalifa State, and highlighting the life of scholar Al-Zawawi who set the “Al-Zubara and Bahrain Calendar”, according to a distinguished scientific and Sharia methodology from which researchers and academics benefit.
