Speaker underlines support for the disabled

Manama, July 9 (BNA): Council of Representatives Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal today received Chairman of the Bahrain International Center for International Mobility, Adel Al Mutawa, and Chairman of the Friendship Society for the Blind, Hussain Al Hulaibi, and the association delegations. The Speaker stressed the parliament's interest in assisting the persons with special needs in overcoming the challenges they faced and to work on improving services delivered to them to contribute to reengaging them into the society. Zainal highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to human rights principles based on equality, respect for all society members, noting its keenness to protect the rights of persons with special needs through the development of legislation and laws to serve their needs. She commended the efforts of the Bahrain International Center for International Mobility and the Friendship Society for the Blind to develop plans and programmes to highlight the talents and aptitudes of the persons with special needs. Al Mutawa and Al Hulaibi pointed out the significance of the legislative role in promoting the national gains, looking forwards to receiving more parliamentary support for the same category.
