Special Envoy for Climate Affairs receives COP26 Regional Ambassador

Manama, Sept. 28 (BNA): Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Chief Executive Officer of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, today received the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) Regional Ambassador for the Middle East and North Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Janet Rogan, and the UK Ambassador to Bahrain, Roddy Drummond.
Dr. Bin Daina lauded the long-standing friendly relations between Bahrain and the United Kingdom in various fields, affirming the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to participate in the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which will be held in Glasgow in November, and play an effective role in unifying international visions on ways to face the environmental challenges and climate change so as to come up with positive outcomes that would contribute to protecting the environment.
Ambassador Rogan expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by the Kingdom to reduce the effects of climate change at the local and international levels, through its comprehensive vision and environmental legislation that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.
She also praised the SCE’s various programmes and activities, highlighting Bahrain’s good stances at various environmental forums.
She wished the kingdom continued progress and prosperity in all fields.
Ambassador Drummond lauded the solid Bahrain-UK relations and cooperation in various fields, especially the environment, stressing the importance of the kingdom’s participation in the event, given its experience in enhancing cooperation and coordination, as well as ability to contribute to its success in coming up with the best recommendations.
