Special Olympics team wins 39 medals

Manama, Mar. 23 (BNA): Bahrain had yet another honorable finish at the recently-concluded Special Olympics World Games 2019 in Abu Dhabi, where they took home 39 medals (16 gold, 12 silver, 11 bronze). The nationals made history in this edition of the Special Olympics, held in the Middle East for the first time, where 7,500 athletes competed in 24 Olympic-style sports over seven days. Bahrain Paralympics Committee chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa led high-ranking officials in welcoming members of the Bahrain delegation on return from the UAE capital. Shaikh Daij congratulated the team on this remarkable achievement, which he attributed to the hard work of the Bahrain athletes and officials in preparation for this international event.
