State Academic symphony orchestra opens concert season
Almaty, October 02, 2009 (Khabar) - Symphonic music has been played at the Kazakh Philharmonic Hall in Almaty. The State Academic symphonic orchestra headed by the chief conductor Vag Papian opened its 50th concert here. There were people among the audience who remember the band’s first steps. It was created as far back as 1958 when the republic needed an orchestra which would introduce all the significant works by Kazakh, Russian, Soviet, and Western European composers to people.
Such masters as Fuat Mansurov and Timur Mynbayev were known to be the orchestra’s conductors. Later people’s artiste Tolepbergen Adbrashev stood behind the conductor’s podium for 25 years.
Tolepbergen Abdrashev, people’s artiste of Kazakhstan:
- It is fortunate for a conductor when the orchestra features good musicians and you don’t have to talk a lot, you just rehearse without any words and reach what you’ve intended.
The maestro died in the fall of 2007. An offer of taking up the leadership of the orchestra was a surprise for pianist and conductor Vag Papian.
Vag Papian, orchestra artistic director:
- I see only diligence and high return during the whole process of working with musicians, so we work to our hearts’ content. In my opinion, this orchestra is capable of anything. It has a great potential. Sometimes we take risks and it becomes more and more difficult, but we can handle it.
It was quite symbolic that the first violinist of Kazakhstan Aiman Musakhodzhayeva performed at the opening of the concert season together with the orchestra. She noted that the symphony orchestra is very dear to her as she used to tour with it a lot.
Aiman Musakhodzhayeva, people’s artiste of Kazakhstan:
- Playing with the academic band which has traditions and where musicians have a tacit understanding with each other is very pleasant for me.
According to Aiman Musakhodzhayeva, she has always had a lot of work to do. She is planning to turn the Academy of music which she runs into a university at the moment. She is also engaged in the creation of a national symphonic orchestra for talented young people.
