State Information Minister delivers key lecture

Amman, Apr.1(BNA) Radical groups serving systematic agendas have failed to push Bahrain in the cauldron of political and sectarian conflicts, Minister of State for Information Affairs and Government’s Official Spokesperson Sameera Ibrahim bin Rajab said. Speaking today at the Jordanian Media Institute (JMI), she commended the efforts of the leadership to bolster security and internal dialogue and build viable state institutions in Bahrain. In a key lecture themed: “Current Situation in Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf Region”, the minister stressed the importance of deep-rooted relations bonding Bahrain and Jordan, citing expertise exchanging and multi-faceted cooperation, particularly in the media field. She emphasized Bahrain’s reform strides with the establishment of state institutions that embody democracy and the rule of the law. She paid tribute to the leadership in Bahrain for initiating an inclusive dialogue engaging all segments of the political spectrum, pointing out results achieved so far. She underlined the string of reform initiatives which were launched to reach an agreement which meets the demands of all segments of the political spectrum. In the lecture, she said that reform efforts have continued unabated on all levels, despite the stance of the opposition which rejected all the proposals and solutions advocated by the leadership in Bahrain. She highlighted key constitutional amendments which granted the legislative branch of government full overview prerogatives. While reiterating Bahrain’s firm resolve to continue the reform process which was first launched by His Majesty the King, she said that the Kingdom is ranked among countries with lowest rates of poverty and unemployment. Referring to the unrest which hit Bahrain over the past three years, she said that protests were led by radical groups serving systematic agendas. She pointed out the systematic media campaigns, being orchestrated to depict Bahrain as an unstable and insecure country. “Contrary to allegations, life has regained its normal course in Bahrain”, she said, adding that terrorists are being confronted with the force of the law. The minister then answered journalists’ questions regarding the current situation inthe Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf Region.
