Strict checks against drugs and chemical precursors launched in Thailand

BANGKOK, January 10 (TNA) - More checkpoints are set up along minor roads across Thailand to strictly check and intercept the trafficking of drugs and chemical precursors. Government Spokesman Lieutenant General Sansern Kaewkamnerd told journalists that the measure is the resolution of a meeting of the Thai army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), held at Bangkok's Government House on January 9. The spokesman said the decision was made after Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan reported to Tuesday's meeting of the NCPO, also headed by Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, that traffickers have applied changing games to smuggle and transport their narcotics and chemical precursors. The spokesman suggested people not to worry but carry on their normal lives, as the checkpoints set up on minor roads nationwide are supervised by mandated senior authorities. (TNA)
