Strong Earthquake Hits Leyte, Philippines

KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 (Bernama) – A strong earthquake, measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, jolted Leyte in the Philippines at 4.04 pm on Thursday, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department. It said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was 945 km from Sandakan, east Malaysian state Sabah. The quake did not pose any tsunami threat, it added. -- BERNAMA
