Students Construction Squad movement turns 50 years old

Pavlodar, October 19, 2009 (Khabar) - This year, the labor term has united as many as 5 thousand Pavlodar students. They have been working on construction sites and the Irtysh River and have been cleaning up pine forests. The reporting meeting on the work done coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Student Construction Squad movement. Maksat Musinov is one of the first who participated in Student Construction Squads. He can still recall all the most memorable events.

The honored miner travels around with the construction squad every summer. He says he still feels young thanks to the special spirit of the student construction squad members.

Maksat Musinov, Student Construction Squads veteran:
- This year, our students have taken part in the construction of a school in Bayanaul and a big building for a regional court house. Our young generation can now be easily counted on. They are good successors of our generation.

This year has been special in the history of the Pavlodar construction squad. Five years ago, when the movement saw its second life, companies were not eager to hire students. Now, the situation has turned the other way round.

Nariman Abilshaikov, commander, Pavlodar regional Student Construction Squad headquarters:
- Sometimes we have a lack of workers and we are not able to satisfy the demand that companies have. The volume of work is growing steadily.

Rysty Zhumabekova, deputy head of Pavlodar region:
- On behalf of the regional administration, I would like to thank all employers who assisted us in our business.

Over the last 5 years, the students have used one billion tenge with dozens of new facilities appearing around the country.
