Sudanese President praises Bahrain's progress

Manama, Apr. 12 (BNA): Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir and the accompanying delegation today paid a visit to Bahrain Economic Development Board (BEDB) and praised Bahrain's progress in various fields, chiefly in banking, looking forward to expanding cooperation with Bahrain's financial institutions. The Sudanese President was received upon arrival at the BEDB by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa; Advisor to HM the King for Economic Affairs, Dr. Hassan Fakhro; Minister of Finance Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa; Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa; Governor of Bahrain Central Bank, Rasheed Al Maraj and BEDB CEO Khalid Al Romaihi. The Sudanese delegation's visit to the BEDB aimed at learning about Bahrain's economic promotion experience. The Sudanese President underlined his country's multiple capabilities, its distinguished geographical location on one of the most important waterways in the world and a major market in east Africa, as well as the availability of various natural resources and qualified human resources. Al Romaihi gave a detailed presentation on Bahrain's promising investment opportunities and future projects designed to attract investments. He reviewed Bahrain's key investment features, including its strategic location in the heart of the Arabian Gulf, national investment protection laws and legislation, and the availability of qualified national cadres in various sectors. He noted the social tolerance Bahraini people reputed for and the high-level of education and health services that nominated Bahrain to magnet investors. He pointed out Bahrain's future investment projects in various areas, including infrastructure, expansion of Bahrain International Airport, King Hamad Causeway, as well as local railway and metro. He touched on the most important future industrial projects, comprising updating the oil refinery and the expansion of the aluminum plant to be the world's biggest aluminum smelting plant.
