"Superboard" to oversee Thai state enterprise boards
BANGKOK, July 5 (TNA) - In an attempt to rid widespread malpractices at Thai state enterprises, the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) plans to establish a "superboard", designed for laying policies and overseeing state enterprise boards.
Thai Army and NCPO Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha told the public during his weekly address on Friday (Jul 4) night that representatives of the Office of the Auditor General of Thailand are being appointed for the "superboard", tasked with probing every project of state enterprises which faces problems, noting that the process should be complete within 60 days.
General Prayuth assured that the establishment of the "superboard" is not aimed at creating benefits for the NCPO, but for ensuring transparency for the sake of public and national interests.
According to the NCPO chief, the next step to be then taken is to amend shareholding ratio at state enterprises between the state, shareholders and the public.
In defending ongoing reshuffles at government offices and at state enterprises after the NCPO has seized the national administrative power since May 22, 2014, the NCPO chief insisted reshuffles at state enterprises could be further announced in the future if the new appointees were proven inefficient.
