Supermarket Bombing: Thai Authorities Issue Arrest Warrants On 11 Suspects

By Tuwaedaniya Meringing PATTANI (Thailand), May 19 (Bernama) -- Thai authorities have issued nine arrest warrants and two emergency law warrants on 11 individuals believed to be involved in the bombing of a supermarket here recently. Commander of 4th Army Region Lt Gen Piyawat Nakwanich said one of the 11 people slapped with the warrants had been arresterd while the remaining were still at large. “Those still at large are believed to have gone into hiding in the hilly areas of the region, and all security forces will work together to hunt them down no matter where they are,” he told reporters here Thursday. In the bombing incident on May 9, two explosives including a car bomb exploded outside a busy supermarket in the restive region of Pattani, injuring 69 people including children. However, no quarters claimed to be responsible for the incident so far. Meanwhile, the supermarket was reopened to its customers today despite parts of the premises had been badly damaged due to the explosion. -- BERNAMA
