Supreme mufti meets the Akmola region residents

Kokshetau, July 31, 2009 (Khabar) - Absattar kazhy, the supreme mufti of Kazakhstan has met with the Akmola region residents. He presented the first published book from the three-volume edition on the history of mosques and madrasahs in Kazakhstan. The official book presentation will be held later in the capital city. However, religious people have already had a chance of familiarizing themselves with its chapters. The second volume will be published next year. Absattar kazhy is planning to complete its editing in December.

Absattar kazhy Derbisali, Supreme Mufti of Kazakhstan:
- I want to dedicate the second volume to the history of Kazakhstani mosque. It will be entitled “Mosques and madrasahs of the independent Kazakhstan”. I would like to dedicate the third volume to our religious figures who were subjected to repressions during the years of the Stalinist Terror. A great number of religious figures were punished for having Arabic language skills and being able to read the Koran.

The work on the three-volume edition encroaches upon the supreme mufti’s almost entire free time. However, despite being busy, he will participate in the opening of a new mosque in Schuchinsk. It is planned to be conducted on the 9th of August. The new mosque’s establishment is a long-anticipated event for religious people of the district. Its construction lasted almost 20 years. The mosque project was ready as far back as 1986 and the construction works had even started at that time. However, the hard times of the 90s impeded the project. After that, the mosque continued to be on the list of the “uncompleted construction projects”. Today, when the health resort district of the country is developing dynamically the new mosque is considered to be a necessity for religious people in Schuchinsk.
