Survey shows most Thais worry on economic problem
BANGKOK, Dec 7 (TNA) -- Majority of the Thais are worried about economic issue prevailing in the country, according to a survey conducted by Suan Dusit Poll.
The survey was made between December 1-5 among 1,324 people nationwide and found that out of 10 most worrisome issues, economic problem topped the list as it received 84.29 per cent of the total respondents.
The respondents cited that economic problem including national exports, trade and investment are poor, people would suffer and the cost of living in the country would soar.
Thai government’s administration including political stability issue came second with 81.27 per cent of the total respondents agreed that they needed to be resolved because they could impact the image of the country.
Terrorism came third with 79.15 per cent. The respondents cited that certain ill-intentioned people are prepared to launch violence against the country. They also suggested that the government lay out tighten security measures while people should “become eyes and ears.”
Corruption practices came fourth among the most worrisome issues and received 75.23 per cent by the respondents followed by deep social divisiveness among people in the Thai society.
Poor education standards became the sixth major problem as agreed by 62.54 per cent of the total respondents while the livelihood of teachers must be improved.
According to the survey, narcotics and influential figures problems topped the seventh most worrisome by Thai people. The issues garnered 61.63 per cent.
The respondents urged the government to seriously resolved the problem.
The standard of living of agriculturists plus their hefty debts ranked eighth with 57.70 per cent followed by problems involving religion and culture 54.38 per cent and the problem of natural resources and environment ranked the last among the list with 51.36 per cent. (TNA)
