Suspect arrested in relation to BCCI incident

Manama, Apr. 26 (BNA): A company’s legal advisor was arrested at Bahrain International Airport and banned from travelling after a complaint had been lodged with the Public Prosecution against him. He is facing charges of insulting and aggressing a member of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) during the chamber’s General Assembly meeting. He is also accused of inciting sectarian hatred and contempt. The Public Prosecution listened to the suspect and witnesses’ testimonies and ordered to hold the suspect in custody for seven days pending investigation in preparation for completion of legal procedures to refer him to the court for trial. The Public Prosecution stressed that legal procedures will be taken against anyone who tampers with civil peace and security and tries to drive wedges among the Bahraini people.
