Sustainable Development Minister Participates in Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action Meeting

Washington D.C, Oct. 15 (BNA): Minister of Sustainable Development, Noor bint Ali Al-Khulaif, participated in the eighth Ministerial Meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, held here recently, as part of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group 2022 annual meetings. Minister Al-Khulaif noted the commitments announced by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, at the COP26 summit in Glasgow in November 2021, including achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2060. She affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to supporting international initiatives to overcome global environmental challenges, including the Helsinki Principles aimed at promoting climate action through the development of fiscal policies. The Sustainable Development Minister highlighted the significant role played by the launched Economic Recovery Plan and the Fiscal Balance Programme in creating a supportive environment for achieving the set environmental goals. She noted the Kingdom’s ongoing initiatives, including the issuance of Law No. (7) of 2022 on the environment, which entered into force in September.
