TAT to organise Chinese New Year

BANGKOK, Feb 3 (TNA) -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with the Chinese government, will jointly organise the Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations in 12 Thai provinces, TAT officials said. As the two countries celebrate their warm 43rd diplomatic relations in 2018, the TAT has cooperated with China’s Ministry of Culture and the Chinese embassy in Bangkok in organising the celebration in 12 key provinces nationwide, including Bangkok, the northern capital of Chiang Mai and the Hat Yai district in the southern province of Songkhla, officials said. Details will be given during a press conference to be held on Monday at the TAT headquarters. The Chinese Lunar New Year this year will be officially observed between February 14-16 in Thailand. Vichit Prakobgosol, President of the Association of Thai Travel Agents, said his agency has projected that some 400,000 Chinese tourists would visit Thailand between February 15-24. More than 100 chartered flights would be booked by the tourists and Thailand would earn about 20 billion baht, he said. (TNA)
