TAT wins 4 PATA Gold Awards 2013

BANGKOK, September 16 (TNA) - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has won four prestige awards from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) for this year. TAT Governor Suraphon Svetasreni told journalists on Monday that winning the PATA Awards 2013 apparently guarantees, globally, high-quality and competitiveness of Thailand's tourism. Suraphon said that he believes this achievement will further attract international visitors to Thailand. TAT has received the PATA Grand Awards 2013 for “Discover the Other You” in the Marketing Campaign category and “Tourism Learning Centre Programme for 84 Schools” in the Education and Training category, as well as two other prizes on “Gorgeous Shades of Craftsmanship” and “This is Thailand” under the Marketing Media category. The “Discover the Other You” campaign was designed to promote Thailand's tourism through traditional wisdom areas, including traditional Thai massage, Thai cuisine, rice farming, crafts and weaving, Thai boxing and Thai performing arts, which are presented as the “Experiential Holidays” videos on the TAT website and have attracted over 24 million viewers in just one month. The “Tourism Learning Centre Programme for 84 Schools” project was launched in schools run by local administrative organization nationwide, to promote proper knowledge, attitudes and values of the Thai tourism among local youths regarding tourist attractions in their respective provinces. “Gorgeous Shades of Craftsmanship” was aimed to promote the beauty of painted umbrellas, one of Thailand's famous handicrafts, mostly in the northern region. “This is Thailand” was presented as a documentary aimed to promote tourism in all Thai regions.
