Department of Mental Health Deputy Director-General Dr. Tawee Tangseri acknowledged that there have been some 3,500 suicide cases each year with those committing suicide even recorded at 3,873 cases last year alone, accounting for 6.03 per 100,000 Thai population, an increase from 5.9 per 100,000 Thai population in 2010. Dr. Tawee noted the rising suicide cases among Thai teenagers is of special concerns, as adolescence is a period of change, but the youths lack of experiences and may be stressful, prompting the rising number of them to have committed suicide.(TNA)
