Tehran art show reflects images of Arab revolutions

TEHRAN,Sept.10(MNA) -- An exhibition of paintings focusing on the Arab revolutions, a series of events that have occurred in Arab countries since early 2011 opened in Tehran’s Asar Gallery.
A selection of 16 works painted by Negar Orang has been put on show in the exhibit under the title of “Emergency Situation”.
The paintings are mostly inspired by photos published in different periodicals with the central theme of the Arab Spring, the gallery announced in a press release published on Sunday.
The artist has created the artworks based on the events, which have so far happened in the Arab countries, by the use of the medium of acrylic and spray.
Orang has used graffiti-like paintings to quickly reflect her impressions in her works. The nature of this technique is that it is quick and is usually used in those situations that must be recorded very quickly.
In addition, shiny light colors are used to reflect the tensions and to highlight the revolutionary aspect of the activities.
The uncertain figures on each canvas resemble those images a passer by registers in his mind of the events happening around him, writes art critic Behrang Purhossein on the catalogue of the exhibit.
Orang has studied illustration and this is her third solo exhibit, which will be running until September 19 at the gallery located at 16 Barforushan Sreet off Iranshahr Street.
