Tehran museums ready to receive visitors from NAM summit

TEHRAN,Aug.22(MNA) -- Tehran’s major museums are prepared to receive visitors from the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit, which will open in Tehran next week.
“The Reza Abbasi Museum, the Sadabad Historical Cultural Complex, the Niavaran Palace Museum and the Golestan Palace Museum are ready to receive visitors from the Non-Aligned Movement summit,” General Office for Museum Affairs Director Yahya Rahmati told on Tuesday.
The museums have been refurbished and will be open during the meeting, he added.
Located on Shariati Street, the Reza Abbasi Museum displays precious collections of Persian calligraphy and miniatures. In addition, artifacts from various historical periods are also on display at the museum.
The Golestan Palace Museum is a Qajar era monument located in downtown Tehran. The Iranian anthropology section and Qajar king Nasser ad-Din Shah’s Mirror Hall are the main attractions of the museum.
The Sadabad Historical Cultural Complex is composed of several palaces dating back to the Qajar era and the Pahlavi period. Many collections are on display at the palaces.
The Niavaran Palace Museum was the primary residence of Iran’s former monarch Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and the royal family until the Islamic Revolution. Collections of the personal effects of the monarch and his family are on display in parts of the structure, which was originally built during the reign of Nasser ad-Din Shah.
Tehran will be playing host to the 16th NAM summit from August 26 to September 1. All Tehran’s banks and public and private organizations will be closed during the meeting.
