Tehran Video Festival to screen films from 14 countries

TEHRAN,May 22(MNA) – Filmmakers from 14 countries have submitted their productions to the first edition of the Tehran International Video Festival running from June 17 to 22. A total of 48 films have been selected with Russia and France offering eight films each, Hungary and Turkey seven films each, Germany five, Italy three and other countries two or one, director of international section of the festival Ali Haji-Qasemi said on Monday This is a reasonable figure for the first edition and sure the number of filmmakers will increase in the next editions of the festival, he added. Director Farzad Motamen, producer Morteza Razzaq-Karimi and author Abbas Karimi are the members of the board of selection currently evaluating entries to the international section. The festival is cosponsored by Iranian Visual Media Institute and Iran Cinema Organization. However, secretary of the festival Mohammadreza Abbasian had earlier announced that the festival is due to be held concurrently in Tehran and the Persian Gulf island of Abu Musa.
