Thai and Singapore zoos join hands for development
BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) -- Thailand's Zoological Park Organisation joined forces with Singapore zoological organisation for development on modern zoos to better converse wildlife species.
Director-general of the Zoological Park Organisation Benjapol Nakprasert has inked an agreement on cooperation of modern zoo developments with Wildlife Reserve Singapore CEO, Mike Barclay in Singapore.
The Wildlife Reserve Singapore is responsible for the management of the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, Jurong Bird Park and River Safari.
The cooperation, meanwhile, would help all seven Thai zoos under the Zoological Park Organisation to joined forces with the biggest zoo management alliance within the ASEAN region for personnel development, as well as to raise cooperation on the breeding of rare species, along with wildlife research and conversation within the region.
The Thai zoological director said the cooperation is a good opportunity for the organisation to work with Singapore to benefit wildlife conservation, research, animal health care, the management of animal population outside their habitats.
He said the deal would also expand the academic operations and the development of new experiences for the organisation's personnel, so as to help lift the standard quality of wildlife conservation and research up to par with the rest of the ASEAN member states. (END)
