Thai authorities probe Valentine's Day blasts

BANGKOK, February 15 (TNA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will explain a series of explosions in Bangkok on February 14 to foreign embassies to Thailand once authorities concerned complete an official investigation on the case. Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow insisted that his ministry will report to the international community, through the foreign embassies to Thailand, whether or not Tuesday's spate of blasts was linked with any terrorism, after the official probe is concluded with grounded evidence. Sihasak said that his ministry is ready to provide proper and updated information related to the blasts to the United States, which recently lifted its travel alert against Thailand, if requested. Three grenades were thrown in three different locations on Sukhumvit 71 Road in the Thai capital Tuesday afternoon by an Iranian man, injuring five people, including the Iranian who lost both his legs in the third bomb thrown at police, but it hit a tree and bounced back towards him and exploded. The first explosion took place at a rented house he shared with two other Iranians, while another grenade was thrown at a taxi after the driver refused to accept him as a passenger. (TNA)
