Thai authority affirms debris found not from missing MH370
BANGKOK, January 27 (TNA) - A Thai authority affirms that a metal panel found in the Gulf of Thailand, off Nakhon Si Thammarat Province in the Thai South last weekend, does not belong to a mysteriously-missing Malaysian Airlines plane, Flight MH370.
Chula Sukmanop, Director-General of the Department of Airport and Acting Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), both are under the Thai Ministry of Transport, told journalists on January 26 that the debris has been verified by authorities of the Malaysian Transport Ministry not belong to the MH370 plane, which went missing in March 2014.
Chula said the wreckage has, thus, been sent to the Royal Thai Air Force for further examinations to find out what it belongs to.
Earlier, the Malaysian Tranport Ministry confirmed, after a thorough examination, that the debris found off the southern Thai coast does not belong to the Malaysia Airlines' MH370 missing plane.
After taking off from Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing on March 8, 2014 with 239 passengers and crew members on board, the Boeing 777 veered off course over the South China Sea and has mysteriously vanished.
Japan-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. stated, meanwhile, that the metal panel discovered off the southern Thai coast might belong to a rocket it had manufactured for taking satellites into space, but the firm has not yet announced any confirmation. (TNA)
