Thai doctors to use stem cell transplantation for blood treatment

BANGKOK, November 24 (TNA) - Thai doctors are to start curing patients with leukemia and lymphoma disease by using stem cell transplantation methods, in an attempt to improve patient care and quality of life and cutback on operational expenses. Secretary-General of the state-run National Health Security Office (NHSO) Dr. Winai Sawasdivorn, said the decision was made in view of negative consequences from chemical treatment. Presently, four state-run hospitals in Bangkok and one in the southern province of Songkhla, the Songklanagarind Hospital, are able to provide stem cell transplantation services to patients. (TNA)
