Thai DPM appoints nine Muslim advisors to help solve southern insurgency
BANGKOK, February 19 (TNA) - Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung has appointed nine members of the Wadah group of Muslim politicians as his advisers to help solve violence in the restive southern provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat.
The team of advisers is tasked to give advice, analysis and suggestions on any given assignments in connection with the southern problems.
Chalerm told journalists that his newly-appointed advisors, including former deputy prime minister, interior minister Wan Muhammad Nor Matha, were knowledgeable and capable persons who understand problems in the far South.
Chalerm, who is also a chairperson of the centre for the implementation of policies and strategies for solving southern problems, said the new advisory team will meet next week and their advices would be presented to the centre. (TNA)
