Thai government to set up ‘Data Warehouse’
BERLIN, GERMANY, July 18 (TNA) - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra told Thai officials in Germany on Wednesday that her government plans to establish a "data warehouse" which collects information related to the national economy in order to facilitate international business operators wanting to invest in the Thai Kingdom.
Yingluck, who is paying an official visit to Germany from July 17-19 as a guest of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, told the "Thailand team", comprising embassy, trade and tourism officials, in Berlin that her government is preparing to set up the "data warehouse", in which the Finance Ministry, the Bank of Thailand or BOT and the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) will be the key offices in collecting updated information on the Thai economy and investment for international investors wishing to invest in the Kingdom.
Urging the officials to help push the national economy forward, Yingluck suggested if the Thailand team cooperates with each other and works untiringly, trade and investment between Thailand and Germany will further expand, strongly cushioned by the growing Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in which Thailand is a member country, toward a single community.
Yingluck acknowledged that her ongoing trip to Germany is significant, as it also marks the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Germany and Thailand.
The Thai prime minister later held talks with her entourage from the private sector, including several Thai industrialists and representatives of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Thai Bankers’ Association to discuss problems they face in running businesses in Germany.
Meanwhile, the Thai premier is also scheduled to pay a three-day official visit to France, starting from July 19, at the invitation of newly-elected French President François Hollande. (TNA)
