Thai junta not yet to lift martial law

BANGKOK, September 2(TNA) - Newly-appointed Thai Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha, who is also Army and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief says that the junta will not yet revoke the martial law after the soon formation of the new government. General Prayuth told the 13th NCPO meeting at the Royal Thai Army headquarters in Bangkok on Tuesday that the NCPO will, however, consider relaxing the martial law enforcement. General Prayuth revealed that the junta will also downsize its tasks when the new Cabinet starts to work to only maintain internal peace and security and to protect natural resources. The new Thai prime minister, thus, ordered all sections of the NCPO to speed up their work to be completed before his new administration presents national policies before the National Legislative Assembly (NLA).
