Thai military plane skids off Bangladesh’s airport

BANGKOK, May 1 (TNA) - A Royal Thai Air Force transport plane carrying 15 people skidded off a runway at Bangladesh's international airport in Dhaka on Monday while it was landing, slightly injuring two pilots. Thai Air Vice Marshal Monthon Satchukorn told reporters that the Thai military aircraft, ART72-500, which was on a regular drill mission aboard, slipped to hit a concrete wall, causing damage to its right wing. Air Vice Marshal Monthon said that the Royal Thai Air Force is sending a team of investigators to probe the incident, noting that the aircraft departed Bangkok's Don Muang Monday morning on a training mission, earlier set to end on May 4. The twin-engine, 30-seat, turboprop short-haul regional airliner, built by the French-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR, has commissioned four ATR72-500 aircraft since 2009. (TNA)
