THAI passengers treated up to int'l standards

BANGKOK, September 10 (TNA) - Thai Airways International (THAI) says that the national flag carrier has treated all passengers up to international standards regarding a recent incident in which an Airbus A330 plane serving its flight from China's Guangzhou City, TG 679, slid off a runway at Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport last Sunday night. THAI Board Chairman Ampon Kittiampon, who is also Secretary-General to the Thai Cabinet, insisted on Tuesday that all crewmembers of the national airline have treated all passengers up to the international standards. Regarding last Sunday night's incident, Ampon explained although THAI staffs were unable to treat all passengers one-on-one, they did not leave any passenger unattended and gave them adequate care. According to the THAI board chair, passengers of the troubled flight can begin claiming their luggage as of Tuesday morning. Under safety regulations, the THAI board chair said, luggage could not be released right away but needed to be handled collectively by THAI staffs, Airbus and Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT). The THAI board chair acknowledged although the cause of the incident has remained under investigation, it was initially found not to result from any technical mistake and THAI executivesm are still confident in captains. The THAI board chair noted that two injured passengers have remained at their hospitals, confirming that THAI takes care of injured people in compliance with its regulations. (TNA)
