Thai PM to chair Defence Council meeting for first time

BANGKOK, July 25 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who is also Defence Minister concurrently, will chair a Defence Council meeting for the first time tomorrow. Being Thailand's first female Defence Minister, Premier Yingluck was briefed agenda of Friday's Defense Council Meeting by Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha and other high ranking army officers at Bangkok's Government House this afternoon. The prime minister, meanwhile, chaired a meeting of authorities concerned at the government seat this morning to discuss ways to transform areas which are unsuitable for rice cultivation into farmlands of other economic crops.
