Thai PM chairs FIRST 2013

BANGKOK, June 17 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minsiter Yingluck Shinawatra on Monday chaired the 25th Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), in which experts and representatives of more than 250 security agencies concerned, including those tasked with countering cyber crime, participated to exchange their experiences and practices to cope with and manage security threats in most effective approaches. Yingluck emphasized that the application of modern technologies helps improve people's quality of life, but improper and insufficient understanding and knowledge about security have, in most reported cases, enabled those ill-intentions to commit cyber crime, which has affected both individuals and agencies at all levels. Yingluck suggested that all parties concerned, therefore, help address the problems, including working out appropriate risk management plans against cyber crime. According to the prime minister, her government has also set up a national cyber security committee to specifically oversee all issues related to cyber security and to seek cooperation on information exchanges among parties concerned for the sake of national cyber security.
